TDI Technical Training Combined Training Courses

Intro to Tech

Prerequisites - 75 Logged Dives, AOW diver & Nitrox certified (Nitrox training can be combined with TDI Intro to Tech course)

Course Overview – This course is designed to provide the AOW diver the opportunity to improve their skills, knowledge and TDI Technical Equipment Configuration while advancing their techniques and building confidence. Training will give the diver insight into the rigors of technical diving and introduced them to the Applied Sciences of Technical Diving; decompression theory, dive planning, Nitrox, Oxygen use and safety & logistical considerations

Equipment – Single steel tank with H-Valve or Y-Valve, doubles, back plate / wing & harness, DIN first stage regulators with 84” & 21” hoses, one stage bottle with DIN regulator & 40” hose, lift bag and spool (all equipment listed provided)

Course Policies – 5 Hours of Classroom, 2 dives in confined water at 30 feet maximum, 2 dives 60 feet maximum depth, 2 days required

Cost - $400.00 Includes required equipment & air fills. Additional costs for Nitrox fills and boat fees

Tech I

Advanced Nitrox, Decompression Procedures & Extended Range

Prerequisites - 100 Logged Dives with 25 dives on EANx, completed TDI Intro to Tech or equivalent, must demonstrate basic diving skills needed to safely make progressively deeper dives to 150 fsw

Course Overview – This course is designed to provide divers the skills, knowledge and equipment configuration needed to make the transition from Recreational Diving to Technical Diving and is the foundation for all future progressive Technical dive training. To understand the benefits and risks associated with breathing Nitrox enriched gases up to 100% O2, provide a working knowledge of the theory, methods & procedures for planning staged decompression dives with air, Nitrox, task loading, best gas mixes, gas consumption, rule of 1/3, team dive planning, safety drills, gas sharing, gas switching, emergency procedures, lift bag deployment, situational awareness, buoyancy, trim, propulsion & communication. Students will continue developing their understanding of the Applied Sciences of Technical Diving; decompression theory, different decompression strategies, advanced dive planning, Nitrox, O2 mixes, Additionally a continuation of dive physics & physiology; inert gas on-gassing / off-gassing, narcosis, END, CNS/OTU’s, hypoxia, hyperoxia, CO2, MOD, hypothermia, hyperthermia and PPO2 considerations.

Equipment – Doubles, back plate / wing & harness, high performance regulators with DIN first stages, one with 7’ LP hose & one with 21” LP hoses & necklace, metal SPG on a 24” HP hose, one DIN stage bottle regulator with 40” LP hose & gauge, 50# lift bag, spool/reel, bottom timer, depth gauge, 2 gas dive computer optional, one back up light, dive tables, one cutting device, wet notes, wrist slate, adequate exposure protection for water temperature and extended dive times

Course Policies – 5 days required, 20 hours of classroom, 12 total dives, 3 dives in confined water at 30 fsw, 2 dives deeper than 60 fsw, 2 dives deeper than 100 fsw, 2 dives deeper than 120 fsw, 3 dives to 150 fsw maximum depth, all dives with END @ 100 feet, PPO2 at 1.3 bottom mix, 1.6 PPO2 deco mix

Tech II

Trimix I (Normoxic)

Prerequisites - 125 Logged dives with 10 decompression dives, completed TDI Advanced Nitrox, Decompression Procedures & Extended Range or equivalent, must demonstrate basic diving skills to safely make progressively deeper dives to 200 fsw

Course Overview – This course is designed to provide divers the skills, knowledge and equipment configuration needed to minimize the risk associated with utilizing Helium based Trimix breathing gas mixes requiring staged decompression with EANx and/or 100% Oxygen during decompression without direct supervision to depths and conditions similar to those of training. To acquire added in-depth knowledge and understand of all concepts, procedures and methods in TECH I training as well as expanding the skills and speeds in which these skills are preformed. Training in the use of travel mixes, air breaks, advanced decompression strategies, up lines, down lines, decompression software, multi gas dive computers, equipment redundancy, dive emergencies, team member rescue, self rescue, medical & health aspects, dive math, isobaric counter diffusion, task loading, best gas mixes, gas consumption, rule of 1/3, team dive planning, safety drills, gas sharing, gas switching, emergency procedures, lift bag deployment, situational awareness, buoyancy, trim, propulsion & communication. Students will continue developing their understanding of the Applied Sciences of Technical Diving; decompression theory, different decompression strategies, advanced dive planning, Nitrox, HE & O2 mixes, Additionally a continuation of dive physics & physiology; RGBM, inert gas on-gassing / off-gassing, narcosis, oxygen toxicity, oxygen window, END, CNS/OTU’s, hypoxia, hypercapnia, hyperoxia, inert gas perfusion, inert gas diffusion, CO2 effects, MOD, HPNS, hypothermia, hyperthermia and PPO2 considerations.

Course Policies – 5 days required, 12 hours of classroom, 10 total dives, 2 dives in confined water at 30 fsw, 2 dives deeper than 100 fsw, 2 dives deeper than 160 fsw, 2 dives deeper than 180 fsw, 2 dives to 200 fsw maximum depth, all dives with END @ 100 feet, PPO2 at 1.3 bottom mix, 1.6 PPO2 deco mix

Tech III

Trimix I (Hypoxic)

Prerequisites - 150 Logged dives with 25 decompression dives, completed TDI Tech II or equivalent, must demonstrate basic diving skills to safely make progressively deeper dives to 250 fsw

Course Overview – This course is designed to provide divers the skills, knowledge and equipment configuration needed to minimize the risk associated with utilizing Helium based Trimix breathing gas mixes requiring staged decompression with EANx and/or 100% Oxygen during decompression without direct supervision to depths and conditions similar to those of training. To acquire added in-depth knowledge and understand of all concepts, procedures and methods in TECH II training as well as expanding the skills and speeds in which the skills are preformed. Training in the use of travel mixes, air breaks, advanced decompression strategies, decompression software, multi gas dive computers, equipment redundancy, dive emergencies, team member rescue, self rescue, lost gas drills, perceptual narrowing, Jon-Lines, time pressure, medical & health aspects, dive math, task loading, best gas mixes, gas consumption, team dive planning, safety drills, gas sharing, gas switching, emergency procedures, lift bag deployment, situational awareness, buoyancy, trim, propulsion & communication. Students will continue developing their understanding of the Applied Sciences of Technical Diving; decompression theory, different decompression strategies, advanced dive planning, Nitrox, HE & O2 mixes, Additionally a continuation of dive physics & physiology; RGBM tables, Buhlmann tables, inert gas on-gassing / off-gassing, tissue gas tensions, 5 minute neuro exam, narcosis, oxygen toxicity, oxygen window, END, CNS/OTU’s, hypoxia, hypercapnia, hyperoxia, isobaric counter diffusion, inert gas perfusion, inert gas diffusion, CO2 effects, MOD, HPNS, hypothermia, hyperthermia and PPO2 considerations.
